Royal Britain: palaces & residences

Where the monarch has lived, then and now.

The British monarchy maintains over a dozen residences, of which six are open to the public outside the working royal calendar: Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle, Holyrood Palace, Kensington Palace, the Tower of London (technically still a royal palace) and Hampton Court (no longer occupied but the most spectacular Tudor survivor). Together they form a one-week tour spanning London, Windsor and Edinburgh.
