Details SJ 68 NW WALTON C.P. HOUGH'S LANE 3/58 Hough's Bridge II Road Bridge over Bridgewater Canal circa 1770 by James Brindley for the Duke of Bridgewater. Brown brick with stone dressings. Deep segmental arch with sandstone springers and projecting band above brick voussoirs. Abutments curved in plan and battered in section. Flush sandstone copings to parapets. Base and kerb to towpath under bridge replaced in concrete. Pipe bridge built against east side of abutments, not included in the item.
