Details First World War memorial unveiled in 1920. DESCRIPTION: Ellington War Memorial is located in the churchyard to the north of the Church of All Saints (Grade I-listed). The memorial takes the form of an obelisk rising from a pedestal with a moulded collar and foot on a single stepped base. The north face of the pedestal reads ERECTED/ IN HONOUR OF/ (NAMES)/ WHO FELL IN THE GREAT WAR/ 1914 – 1918. The east face bears the inscription PASS NOT THIS STONE IN SORROW/ BUT IN PRIDE/ AND MAY YOU LIVE AS NOBLY/ AS THEY DIED. On the south face of the memorial is the inscription ALSO/ IN MEMORY OF/ (NAME)/ WHO DIED AT COLOGNE/ WHILE SERVING WITH THE/ ARMY OF OCCUPATION, while the west face reads THEY DIED/ FOR LIBERTY AND HONOUR.
