Details SOWERBY BRIDGE ROCHDALE CANAL, SE 0225-0325 Upper Foot, Luddenden Foot 6/183 Ellen Royd Bridge - GV II Canal bridge. c1798. For the Rochdale Canal Company. Coursed squared stone and ashlar. Horseshoe arch; ashlar band below parapet with triangular section ashlar coping. To either side of arch are pilaster buttresses with bands, rising as ashlar piers at parapet level and with coping raised and pyramidal above them. Under the bridge the canal walls curve inwards.
