Details LEEDS SE2734 CANAL ROAD 714-1/28/924 (West side (off)) 05/08/76 Bridge 225 on Leeds and Liverpool Canal, and gate piers and retaining walls GV II Canal bridge and boundary walls. Late C18 with mid C19 alterations and additions. Coursed stone and ashlar. Bridge over Leeds and Liverpool Canal with boundary walls attached to south end of east side and north end of west side. Bridge has single round arch, projecting band at road level, plain coping to parapets which incorporate square-section gate piers with cornice band and shallow pyramid caps at south end. Canal boundary wall attached to south end of east side is approx 15m long and 4m high to canal, pointed coping; wall at west side, north end similar, approx 30m long with plain gate piers near centre. The bridge carried the road from Armley and from 'Botany Bay' wharves on the south side of the canal into the Armley Mills (qv).
