Details SJ 80 SW BONINGALE C.P. PATSHULL ROAD (west side) 6/115 Bishton Manor - G.V. II* Manor House. C15 with later additions and alterations. Partially timber framed with plastered infill and pebbledash rendering, parts on a sandstone plinth, plain tiled roofs. Open hall plan with service and solar wings, extended and converted. 2 storeys; hall of 3 bays, close studded service wing to left of 4 short bays and solar to right of 2 bays; timber framed porch in angle between hall and solar, with close studding and curved brackets, possibly marks the position of a former oriel; to left of service wing a pebbledash rendered,timber framed, hipped roof extension is probably C16 or C17; this has a massive projecting brick end stack with re-built paired shafts and an integral red brick stack in front of the ridge; C19 casements throughout including tall rectangular window to hall, canted bay windows to the service and solar wings. To the rear the service wing is jettied to the first floor at the gable end; close studding, C20 lattice casements, the openings between the studs in the attic space possibly marking the positions of original windows. A C19 addition masks the back wall of the hall and to the left is a tall narrow, timber framed wing at right angles, added c.1930. The roof, which has been remodelled, is of trussed rafter construction to the hall and shows signs of smoke blackening; one arch braced truss to the service wing and curved wind braces, cambered tie and collar beams to the solar.
