Details This list entry was subject to a Minor Amendment on 5 March 2024 to correct a typo in the description and to reformat the text to current standards SE 08 NW 15/43 AYSGARTH YORE BRIDGE Yore Bridge GV II Bridge. C16, widened downstream 1788 by John Carr. Rubble and ashlar. Single segmental arch. Upstream: largely C16, two orders of rubble voussoirs. C18 parapet above ashlar band, with ashlar segmental coping. Downstream: ashlar soffit; voussoirs with chamfered rustication; hoodmould. Rubble spandrels and parapet, with ashlar band, paterae in spandrels and segmental coping. Parapets curve round to north-east and south-west, and terminate in circular bollards. Partly in the parish of Carperby cum Thoresby. VCH i, p 203, York Georgian Society, The Works in Architecture of John Carr, (1973), p 2.
