Details ARMITAGE WITH HANDSACRE TRENT AND MERSEY SK 01 NE CANAL 6/10001 Bridge No 59, off Old Road at SK 0786 1642 - II Canal accommodation bridge. Late C18. Red brick with stone coping. Single span with towpath and humped back. Segmental headed arch. Swept wings terminating in piers at all 4 corners. Stone springing stones. Minor repairs include small sections of parapet and coping. The Trent and Mersey Canal was built between 1766 and 1777 by James Brindley and Hugh Henshall.
