Details SANDBACH TRENT AND MERSEY SJ 75 NW CANAL 918- /6/10004 Bridge No. 157 at SJ 7387 5938 II Canal accommodation bridge. Early-mid C19. Brindled brick with stone coping. Single span with towpath and humped back. Elliptical arch. Swept wings terminating in piers at all 4 comers. Stone plaque at crown on both sides. Remains of cast iron guard plate on wooden post to west towpath side jamb. The Trent and Mersey Canal was built between 1766 and 1777 by James Brindley and Hugh Henshall.
