Category C Date Added 23/06/2003 Local Authority Scottish Borders Planning Authority Scottish Borders Parish Bowden NGR NT 53895 26196 Coordinates 353895, 626196 — Probably early 19th century. 2-arched bridge over the Ale Water. Rubble with ashlar voussoirs, flat-coped parapet and splayed approaches. Arch to NW broader and segmental, that to SE semicircular. — The slightly smaller SE arch is presumably to accommodate floodwater/overflow. Extensively rebuilt and repaired 2001/2002 by Scottish Borders Council. Situated on the boundary of Bowden and Lilliesleaf Parishes.
