Category C Date Added 06/11/1979 Local Authority East Ayrshire Planning Authority East Ayrshire Parish Straiton NGR NS 47872 03373 Coordinates 247872, 603373 — Early 19th century. Single, segmental-arched span over River Doon. Coursed rubble with sandstone ashlar voussoirs. String course over voussoirs. Ruinous parapet. — Said to have been built by the French Prisoners during the Napoleonic Wars. The bridge is now (2007) in a rather ruinous condition, but nevertheless contributes, as an ancillary building, to the Craigengillan Estate. The bridge was previously incorrectly included on the list under Dalmellington Parish.
