Details LOWER SLAUGHTER SP 1622 10/37 Slaughter Mill and Sluice Bridge, and 25.8.60 Post Office (previously listed as The Mill ) Early C19. In two builds, part red brick and part (Post Office) coursed rubble, Cotswold stone roofs. Two storeys and attics, three windows, two and three light wood casements in elliptical heads. Plain door with gabled hood. Two single storey wings. The principal features are on the south gable tall red brick chimney with stone weathering and large iron breast shot wheel. Most of the original gearing and other machinery is retained, including grinding gear. As the only large brick building it takes a notable place in the village scene, and forms an important part of a very well loved picturesque view. The sluice bridge is a simple ashlar construction over the sluice, behind the wheel, hump-backed over segmental arch and without parapet.
