Details SE 04 NW 1/17 KILDWICK KIRKGATE (east side, off) Parsons Bridge over Leeds-Liverpool Canal GV II Footbridge. c1774. Gritstone rubble, ashlar coping. Single arch of basket form spanning both canal and south towpath. Flanking walls terminate in pilasters and are angled to provide a wider approach to the bridge. The voussoirs painted white with an indicator marking the centre of the canal. Cast-iron plaque bearing the number "186" on each face. The canal separated the church from the vicarage and Kildwick Hall; the bridge was therefore an important footway linking the two parts of the settlement.
