Background
History
The name Perrott comes from the River Parrett. The manor was held with South Perrott just over the border in Dorset. The parish was part of the hundred of Houndsborough. 800 m north north-west of Pipplepen Farmhouse are earthworks of an 80 m by 75 m platform with the remains of buildings. The site with its surrounding moat is believed to be the medieval mansion home of the De Pipplepens.
