Category B Date Added 04/11/1971 Local Authority Dumfries And Galloway Planning Authority Dumfries And Galloway Parish New Abbey NGR NX 96223 66303 Coordinates 296223, 566303 — Dated 1715. Roadbridge, 2 asymmetrical segmental arches over New Abbey Pow; now doubled in width, but profile retained. Rubble-built, white granite voussoirs and pointed cutwaters, red ashlar cope to slightly ramped parapets, latter also splayed at approaches. — Built for John Paterson re inscribed panel at west, over southern arch. Repaired after flood of 26.9.1815. Possibly built originally as a single-arched bridge (INVENTORY refers to it as having only one arch).
