Details NORTHLEACH WITH OFF THE MARKET PLACE SP 1114 EASTINGTON (west side), Northleach 8/110 Monument in churchyard of Church of St. Peter and St. Paul, c4.5m south of south aisle GV II* Unidentified chest tomb. C17. Limestone. Rectangular plan with carved ends. Moulded plinth. Oval inscription plaques on north an south sides. Pair of eroded heads or skulls above inscription plaque on north side. Open bibles upper right and left. Deeply carved foliate and scrollwork decoration around plaque. South side; deep carved scrollwork around inscription plaque. Winged cherubs' heads upper right and left. Cartouche-like plaques at ends of tomb. Winged cherubs' heads above. Standing figures of cherubs either side. Cherubs at west end holdng open bibles. Skulls at cherubs' feet at east end. Drapes with ribbon ties at top either side of standing cherubs. Thick capping with moulded margin with tassle-like carving at each corner and rosettes at each end. Unusually ornate and finely carved monument.
