Category B Date Added 31/01/1981 Local Authority Edinburgh Planning Authority Edinburgh Burgh Edinburgh NGR NT 17504 70373 Coordinates 317504, 670373 — Hugh Baird, engineer. Circa 1820. Single span bridge. Coursed sandstone with ashlar dressings. Segmental-arch bridge with hog's back profile; dressed voussoirs and soffit. Advanced keystone with '11' inscribed. String course. Plain clairvoyee railings between parapet walls, ashlar slab coping. — The Edinburgh and Glasgow Union Canal was designed by Hugh Baird and was built from 1818-22. The bridge is located at rear NNE of Hermiston House and is no longer in use. The bridge is identical to Hermiston Bridge (no 12) to W. Scheduled Monument.
