Details PALMYRA SQUARE 1. (South Side) 5150 Memorial to South Lancashire Regiment in Queen's Gardens SJ 6088 1/107 II GV 2. The gardensoccupy the centre of the Square, and were laid out in 1897. The monument dates from 1907, by Drury. Large rough rock podium with bronze plaque containing names of men killed in 1900, and relief of mourning family. On top is a standing bronze figure of a soldier with field glasses and rifle. All the listed buildings in Palmyra Square form a group with Nos 9 to 21 (odd) the Museum and Art Gallery Bold Street, No l0 Egypt Street Nos 3 to 13 (odd) Springfield Street, and Nos 13 and 15 Suez Street.
