Details SHREWTON MADDINGTON STREET SU 04 SE (off south side) 3/251 Maddington Manor 18/2/58 GV II Detached house. C18 with remodelling and front extension of 1830's. English bond brick, tiled hipped roof with brick stacks. L-plan. 2-storey, 3-window front of 1830s. Central door with 6 fielded panels and fanlight in round-arched opening, Tuscan porch with stone columns and stone dentilled cornice. To right and left are late C19 French windows with flat arches. First floor has three 9-pane sashes with flat arches, brick dentilled eaves cornice. Right return has French windows and one glazed door, first floor has two 9-pane sashes, dentilled eaves, hipped dormer with 2-light casement to roof. Left return has French windows and 16-pane tripartite sash to ground floor of front range, rear range has planked door with rectangular light over, with lead canopy on wooden columns, to right is 16-pane sash, with 1833 incised on brick over, first floor has six 16-pane sashes and one C20 sash. Right return of rear range has three 9-pane sashes to ground floor and lean-to to left, first floor has round-arched stair sash window and three 9-pane sashes, dentilled eaves. Rear has lean-to with tiled roof to ground floor, no windows to first floor. Interior has late C18 stairs with turned balusters and shaped cheeks, moulded ceiling cornices and classical marble fireplaces to front range of 1830s.
