Category B Date Added 16/04/1971 Local Authority Aberdeenshire Planning Authority Aberdeenshire Parish Strathdon National Park Cairngorms NGR NJ 26483 08790 Coordinates 326483, 808790 — 1830. Fine large segmental-arched bridge with smaller semicircular floodwater arch, cutwater to dividing pier and curved approaches, sited close to Luib Farm on main Strathdon road. Snecked rubble on pink ashlar block base, large narrow voussoirs and narrow rubble bands to arch vaults. FURTHER DESCRIPTION: low flat-coped parapet with simple panel at centre, inscribed 'Luib Bridge / Built by Sir Charles Forbes / of Newe and Edinglassie MDCCCXXX. — A prominently sited and well constructed, though now heavily pointed, bridge over the River Don. Sir Charles Forbes of Newe also erected new bridges at Bridge of Newe and Bridge of Buchaam when, in 1858, he re-routed the public road in order to extend Newe Estate policies.
