Category C Date Added 19/08/1977 Supplementary Information Updated 18/11/2008 Local Authority Scottish Borders Planning Authority Scottish Borders Burgh Hawick NGR NT 50210 14256 Coordinates 350210, 614256 — 1864. Single segmental arch spanning Slitrig Water with splayed wing walls to SE and adjoined by boundary walls on both sides. Squared, bull-faced yellow sandstone with polished ashlar band course and chamfered cope. — A well-proportioned later-19th-century stone bridge in a prominent and picturesque setting just to the south of the centre of Hawick, linking the mill-workers' housing on Slitrig Crescent with the area surrounding St Mary's Parish Church. This structure replaced an old ford and wooden footbridge. At the crown of the bridge, on the north parapet, is the 360 feet OS benchmark. Also known as Slitrig Crescent Bridge. List description revised and category changed from B to C(S) following resurvey (2008).
