Details A First World War memorial dedicated to the men from Ilchester parish who lost their lives whilst serving their country in the First World War and subsequently the Second World War. The monument consists of a Portland stone Celtic cross set on a round pillar on a square Hamstone plinth bearing marble tablets with leaded lettering giving the names of the sixteen Fallen and the words: TO THE GLORY OF GOD / AND IN LOVING REMEMBRANCE / OF OUR MEN / WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES IN DEFENCE / OF THEIR KING AND COUNTRY / IN THE GREAT WAR / OF 1914-1918 A further marble tablet was added at the base of the monument inscribed with the names of the five men of the parish who lost their lives whilst serving their country in the Second World War.
