Category A Date Added 03/08/1971 Local Authority Dumfries And Galloway Planning Authority Dumfries And Galloway Parish Hoddom NGR NY 16362 72716 Coordinates 316362, 572716 — Alexander Laurie of Newton Stewart, mason. Built approximately 1762-4 (see notes). Road bridge, 3 wide segmental arches (approx 14 x 20 x 14m) over River Annan. Ashlar, mostly diagonally droved, rebuilt parapets stugged; chamfered coping blocks. Recessed arch rings; pointed cutwaters either side splayed inwards below parapets. Narrow roadway and parapets shallow ramped partly rebuilt, and widened at approaches. — Also in Annan Parish. Compares with Brydekirk bridge and with Nith bridge at Thornhill. Decision taken by Commissioners of Supply to visit site 2.12.1760; 1st payment made January 1763; final payment made 6.6.1765. Change of Category B to A 4.10.88.
