Details SD 48 SE 2/8 HEVERSHAM Heversham Memorial Cross to South of Church of St Peter (q.v.) G.V. II Memorial Cross. Erected 1920 in memory of those killed in 1st World War, inscription for 2nd World War added later. Designed by J.F. Curwen. Sandstone. In the form of a Celtic Cross, based on a reconstruction of the old cross in the church porch at the time of survey. Inscribed on South face with list of names and: THEIR NAME LIVETH FOR EVER MORE 1914-1919 followed by a further list of names for 1939-45 war. Inscription on North side reads: (in part) TO THE MEMORY OF ALL THOSE WHO AT THE CALL OF KING AND COUNTRY LEFT ALL THAT WAS DEAR TO THEM ... GIVING UP THEIR LIVES THAT OTHERS MIGHT LIVE IN FREEDOM.
