Details A war memorial cross of mid-C20 date. MATERIALS: of dressed granite. DESCRIPTION: a plain tapering cross on a three-stepped square base and tapering plinth. The cross has an incised front (south) face with TO OUR/ GLORIOUS/ DEAD inscribed within a roundel at the base of the shaft. THe north face is inscribed: THE/ GREAT WAR/ 1914-1919. The cross shaft stands on a square base and a plaque is attached to the south face which reads: THIS PLAQUE COMMEMORATES/ THE NAMES OF THE/ MEN AND WOMEN/ OF FALMOUTH/ WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES/ IN THE WAR OF – 1939 – 1945/ THE NAMES OF THE FALLEN ARE RECORDED/ IN THE BOOK OF REMEMBRANCE/ IN THE PARISH CHURCH. The plinth below has a plaque that reads: THE GREAT WAR 1914-1918, below which (and to the other faces) the plinth is inscribed with names of the fallen.
