Details 1. 5404 TQ 21 NW 9/321 15.3.55 SHERMANBURY BRIGHTON ROAD Ewhurst Manor II 2. Thomas Peverel built a moated manor house here in the reign of Edward I. The moat remains but of the building itself the only survival is the Gateway with the porter's lodge attached to it. The house now on the site is part of a C16 house, originally of larger dimensions. It is an L-shaped timber-framed building with red brick infilling, the south front refaced on the ground floor with red brick and above tile hung. Tiled roof. Casement windows. The east front has a stone chimney breast with a crow-stepped brick stack and another chimney breast in the centre which is now converted into a bay. Two windows 3 windows to each wing.
