Details Cranfield war memorial was erected c1920. The memorial takes the form of a plain stone cross with chamfered corners on an octagonal plinth and stepped base. A cast metal sword is attached to the north-west elevation of the cross. The names of the fallen are inscribed on the plinth, with forty-three names of those who fell in the First World War, and nine names of those who fell in the Second World War. The memorial is surrounded by a gravel path and flower beds, and is enclosed by low metal fencing with a pedestrian gate opening from High Street to the west. The Inscription reads: IN LOVING / AND GRATEFUL MEMORY / OF THOSE CRANFIELD MEN / WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES FOR / KING AND COUNTRY IN THE / THE GREAT WARS. / 1914-1919 AND 1939-1945 / THEIR NAME LIVETH FOR EVERMORE This List entry has been amended to add the source for War Memorials Online.
