Details CLAUGHTON SD 54 SW 8/53 Cross - GV II Cross base, medieval, with shaft added in 1920. Sandstone. Base an irreqular boulder with rectangular socket which holds a tapering shaft . The cross head is decorated with interlace ornament. An inscribed brass plate is attached to the base; 'This wayside cross was restored by William Fitzherbert-Brockholes in A.D. 1920 in memory of his two sons Thomas and Roger and all from Claughton who gave their lives for their country in the Great War.' Listing NGR: SD5250943070 This List entry has been amended to add sources for War Memorials Online and the War Memorials Register.
