History: Dating from the original period of canal building 1794-7 and originally carrying the main Llanymynech to Welshpool road. Exterior: Cemented red brick, rubble at lowest level, chamfered stone coping. Single elliptical arch with archring chamfered to towpath side, stone quayside edging. Ramped abutment walls and parapets curve out to brick piers, south east side ends against small gabled warehouse. Location: Clafton Bridge with its long rising approaches carries the B4393 over the Montgomeryshire Canal.
