Details BROMFIELD SO57NW BURWAY LANE 825-1/5/43 (South side) 04/06/87 Burway Manor II House. c1600, altered C18 and early C19, and greatly enlarged in 1884. Part timbered and cased in brick in Flemish bond, part brick with moulded bands. Plaintiled roofs with moulded barge-boards. c1600, is of L-plan with main range to north-east and cross-wing to south-west, aligned north-west/south-east. 1884 block is attached to north-west and is aligned north-east/south-west, with shallower, lower cross-wing at north-east end. 2 storeys throughout. Irregular fenestration. Garden front: c1600 block lower and set-back to right with two 2-light casements on 1st floor and tripartite sash on ground floor with door to left under decorative Victorian timber verandah with balustrading and plain tiled roof. 1884 range projects to left with decorative timber-framing in gable, 1st floor triangular bay flanked by casement windows and canted bay on ground floor with monopitch roof; coat of arms over. Stack with 2 diamond shafts at angle between c1600 and 1884 blocks. South-east front of c1600 block. L-plan with brick band. 1/1 windows with casement with cambered head over taller casement below on wing, and c1600 blocked wooden 2-light mullion window over tall cambered-head casement below. Very tall c1600 stack with four diamond-plan shafts between main range and cross-wing of c1600 block. Entrance front: highly irregular L-plan with entrance in canted gabled porch between end gable of main range of c1600 block and the taller 1884 range to right. Irregular fenestration with 4 windows, one under deep cambered hood on consoles, on 1st floor of 1884 range and two on ground floor.
