Details The asset was previously listed twice also under List entry 1145132. This entry was removed from the List on 11 November 2016. NY 52 NW 9/9 BROUGHAM BROUGHAM Brougham Castle Bridge II Roadbridge. Dated on centre of parapet 1813. Red Penrith sandstone. 3 segmental arches with recessed voussoirs on rounded cutwaters. Solid chamfered parapet. A broad County Council bridge on the Penrith-Appleby turnpike. Built by an Act of 1811 for continuing the main Turnpike road direct through to Penrith instead of round by Lowther Bridge, south of Eamond Bridge. Extensively repaired in 1899.
