From the Wikipedia article

Broadhalfpenny Down (pronounced /ˌbrɔ:dˈheɪpniː/; brawd-HAYP-nee) is a historic cricket ground in Hambledon, Hampshire. It is known as the "Cradle of Cricket" because it was Hambledon Club's home in the 18th century, although cricket predates both the club and the ground by at least two centuries. It is located in the parish of Hambledon, approximately 2.7 miles from the village of the same name. The ground lies on a ridge connecting Broadhalfpenny Down itself with higher ground to the north at Wether Down and Salt Hill. The ridge, along with the down to the south, is crossed by the Monarch's Way long-distance footpath before it descends toward Horndean.
