Coursed sandstone with dressed voussoirs and soffit. Advanced keystone with 17 inscribed. Ashlar wallhead. Parapet railings, alternating between straight and curved posts. Railings terminated by octagonal piers with corniced capital. — The Edinburgh and Glasgow Union Canal was designed by Hugh Baird and built from 1818-22. Scheduled Monument.
