Details SK 80 SW BELTON IN RUTLAND CHURCH STREET 3/7 War Memorial 10.11.55 GV II War memorial on base of early cross c1919. Memorial has a tall moulded shaft to cross with crown as capital, and the earlier base is a large squared block with attached engraved slates recording the names of the dead, mounted on 2 octagonal steps. On the base stone, Charles I is reputed to have sat after the battle of Naseby, and it is known locally as the Kings Stone.
