Details This list entry was subject to a Minor Amendment on 17/11/2015 SK 5905 5/10130 LEICESTER, ABBEY PARK ROAD, Abbey Corner Bridge (Formerly listed as Lady Bridge) II Road bridge. 1878. Steel, cast iron, red brick and ashlar dressings. 3 span, flat arched bridge, with brick abutments and piers. 2 brick piers with blue brick plinths and curved ashlar cutwaters with rusticated bands. Piers have roll moulded edges to either side with ashlar bases and caps. These piers rise above the deck and are topped with moulded ashlar caps with psuedo-battlemented tops. Abutments have similar broader piers which rise above the deck and have similar ashlar caps. Deck has broad steel girders with buckle plating between which form the 3 flat spans of the bridge. The sides have alternating cast iron curved brackets and pendants. Cast iron parapet has 2 circular strapwork wheels per panel.
