Details The following entry:- 1925/0/10012 08-JUL-04 WOOKEY WOOKEY HOLE War memorial in the churchyard of St Mary Magdalene GV II Shall be replaced by: 1925/0/10012 08-JUL-2004 ST CUTHBERT (OUT) WOOKEY HOLE War Memorial in the churchyard of St Mary Magdalene GV II First World War memorial. Circa 1920; restored 1991. Doulting limestone. Octagonal stepped base and pedestal with bronze plaques on two sides inscribed with the names of the dead; surmounted by a tapered octagonal shaft with slender crocketed pinnacles on alternate sides and an Iona cross with a sheathed sword and wreath to the front. There is also a plaque to the men who died in the Second World War. A well designed example of a First World War memorial with fine detailing situated in the churchyard. This List entry has been amended to add sources for War Memorials Online and the War Memorials Register. These sources were not used in the compilation of this List entry but are added here as a guide for further reading, 25 July 2017.
