Heritage listing
Details War memorial. Erected, following the First World War, in 1923. A further inscription was added after the Second World War. MATERIALS: carved from Cornish granite and limestone. DESCRIPTION: the memorial is situated beside the main entrance to the churchyard of the Church of St Andrew. It comprises a cross fleury set on a tapering shaft, plinth and two-stepped base. At the centre of the cross are the intertwined letters of the Christogram ‘IHS’. The memorial stands approximately 2.1m high and is carved from Cornish granite except for the lower step, which is of limestone. The north-west face of the plinth is inscribed in leaded lettering: IN MEMORY OF/ (FIVE NAMES)/ KILLED IN ACTION. DURING/ THE WAR 1914 – 1918. There is a further inscription on the south-west face of the plinth: 1939 – 1945/ (TWO NAMES).
