Details TL 4322 LITTLE HADHAM ALBURY ROAD (west side) Little Hadham-on-Ash 7/25 Windmill Tower (Formerly listed as The 19.10.51 Windmill) 220 metres WNW of Mill House - II Windmill tower. Mid C18 (deeds 1748-1870 in HRO). Tall 2 storeys, red brick (English bond), and octagonal tower. 2 plinth offsets to base. Very thick walls, vertical inside but battered outside. High openings in S, N and E faces. Doorway on W. Line of socket holes for props for higher timber staging. Base for former 5 storeys smock mill in use up to 1930s. Upper part destroyed by fire in 1981. A striking industrial monument of considerable historic and technological interest.
