Details DEERHURST - SO 8628-8728 11/28 Wightfield Manor (formerly listed as Wightfield 4.7.60 Manor, Apperley) - II* Former Manor House, now large farmhouse. C16, C17, both for Cassey family, early C18, for John More or John Snell, early and mid C19 for Barnard family; minor alterations C20. Coursed, squared stone to hall and porch, otherwise generally random blue lias rubble; English garden wall bond brickwork of various dates; tiled roof. Six-bay main block, 2 and 2½ storeys, originally one room deep, 3- bay, 3-storey cross wing, 2 projecting stair turrets, single-storey wing on left, various minor additions. Entrance front: plinth; iron opening lights to all windows, mullioned with hollow chamfer. Gable of cross wing on right with projecting stair turret to right: 6-light mullion and transom window, king mullion, hoodmould; small stair window to right. Above 4-light mullion, with hoodmould; 3- light mullion with hoodmould to second floor, small stair window to right. Crow-stepped gable; hipped roof to turret. Hall block slightly set back on left: two 3-light mullion and transom windows, linked hoodmould; above two 3-light mullioned windows, all four C19 in date. To left porch projects: moulded door surround, 4-centred arch, sunk spandrels with shields, one with Cassey griffin, hoodmould with circular stops; inside half-glazed door in moulded surround, 4-centred arch, sunk spandrels: bench seat each side on res-et scalloped capitals. To left of porch, slightly set back canted stone bay, 4-light mullioned window, 4- centred heads to each light. Moulded string set slightly above. On left single-storey brick wing projects.
