Details A war memorial, erected in 1920. MATERIALS: constructed of stone. DESCRIPTION: the memorial is a freestanding cross. It has a two-stepped octagonal base surmounted by an octagonal plinth and shaft. At the top of the shaft is a moulded capital with rose details, surmounted by a cross fleurie. The plinth has decorative gothic detailing including corners representing buttresses with offsets and ogee-arched tracery with trefoils. The names of the fallen are inscribed in the moulded panels of the plinth. The north face is inscribed: TO THE GLORY OF GOD/ AND IN GRATEFUL MEMORY/ OF THOSE CONNECTED WITH/ THIS CHURCH AND PARISH/ WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES IN/ THE GREAT WAR 1914-1918/ R.I.P./ THEY WERE A WALL UNTO US/ BOTH BY NIGHT AND DAY. Below is inscribed: 1939-1945 (NAMES). This List entry has been amended to add the source for War Memorials Register. This source was not used in the compilation of this List entry but is added here as a guide for further reading, 15 December 2016.
