Details WEYMOUTH SY6684 CHURCH STREET, Upwey 873-1/6/560 (East side) 12/12/53 West Manor (Formerly Listed as: STOTTINGWAY STREET, Upwey The Manor House) GV II Former wing to Manor House (qv Stottingway Street), now a separate dwelling. 1901. Squared coursed stone, ashlar dressings, tile and stone slate roof. Built in C16 vernacular revival style as a large wing for the Manor, with 2 principal rooms to the double-gabled garden front, and staircase across the back. EXTERIOR: 2 storeys, 3 windows, all recessed ovolo-mould mullion casements with labels, detailed as the main building. The full-height symnmetrical canted bays have hipped stone slate roofs, with a central 2-light at first floor over a wide door with side-lights. Haunched gables and flat centre with saddle-back copings. The left (W) return has 2- and 3-light casements, and a glazed door under glazed conservatory to the right. A further door is in a set-back to the left. A central eaves stack to both left and right returns. The back has twin gables, and a central 2-light at first floor. INTERIOR: retains stone fire surrounds and unchanged detail, with the original straight-flight staircase. The wing appears to have been added in the very early C20, when extensive modifications were also made to the original Manor House.
