Category B Date Added 05/10/1971 Local Authority Highland Planning Authority Highland Parish Kilmonivaig NGR NN 30473 99140 Coordinates 230473, 799140 — 1812. Polished ashlar monument comprising square corniced plinth on moulded base, supporting short panelled obelisk topped by finial made up of 7 masks surmounted by stone hand gripping iron dagger. Inscription on plinth in Latin, English, French and Gaelic. — Erected in 1812 by Col. McDonnell of Glengarry, commemorating event in 1663 when 2 sons of 12th MacDonald of Keppoch were murdered. Seven murderers traced and killed at Inverlair, near Tulloch, 1665, their heads washed in spring by monument before being presented to Chief at Invergarry Castle.
