Category B Date Added 12/04/1995 Local Authority Fife Planning Authority Fife Burgh St Andrews NGR NO 51340 16732 Coordinates 351340, 716732 — Sir Robert Lorimer, 1922. White granite celtic high cross with sword in low relief on shaft. Plinth with double base course, also in white granite, with inset grey granite inscribed slab. Cross set in semi- octagonal enclosure, approached by shallow steps, with snecked rubble enclosing wall. Base course, battered cope, name panels inset on 3 sides, with roll-moulded rybats and lintols. — Unveiled by Earl Haig. Cross and shaft blown down 1968, restored 1985 on initiative of Dr Robin Evetts. Lorimer was a noted designer of war memorials. The memorial is set into the boundary wall of St Andrews Cathedral.
