Details A war memorial, designer unknown, constructed circa 1921. MATERIALS: the memorial is constructed from hammered stone, on a stone-built platform. PLAN: the war memorial cross is set upon a square platform. DESCRIPTION: the memorial takes the form of a wheel cross with a tapering shaft, in hammered stone, set on a moulded base upon a stone-built platform. The front face of the base carries the inscription TO / THE GLORY OF GOD / AND IN / HONOURED MEMORY OF THE MEN / FROM THIS PARISH / WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES FOR / KING AND COUNTRY / IN THE GREAT WAR 1914-1918 below which are the names of the Fallen. The opposing face of the base is inscribed in matching lettering TO / THE GLORY OF GOD / AND IN / HONOURED MEMORY OF THE MEN / FROM THIS PARISH / WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES FOR / KING AND COUNTRY / IN THE SECOND GREAT WAR / 1939-1945, followed by the names of the men who died in that war.
