Details The war memorial comprises a stone cross, c 3m tall, standing to the west of the tower of the former Church of St John the Evangelist (The Bishop Centre, Godolphin and Latymer School). The cross head is a type of cross pattee, the centre of which is ornamented with blind Gothic tracery. The cross head has a moulded foot, rising from a square-sectioned shaft with chamfered edges. The shaft stands on a small, square, pedestal. The whole is set on a low, square, stone slab. The front face of the pedestal is incised with the dedicatory inscription, TO THE GLORY OF GOD/ AND IN MEMORY OF/ THE MEN OF THIS PARISH/ WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES/ FOR HONOUR/ AND FREEDOM/ IN THE GREAT WAR/ 1914-1918.
