Details This list entry was subject to a Minor Amendment on 6 February to amend a typo in the description SK 5804 SE 3/343 TOWN HALL SQUARE (Centre) War memorial at north east corner of Town Hall Square GV II Early C20. Boer War memorial. Sculptor Crosland McClure. Consisting of low granite wall with bronze plaques of list of the dead, central squat pedestal with bronze kneeling angel in flowing robes holding sword and olive branch. At each end there is a slightly lower pedestal with partly robed bronze female figures. The Town Hall, Fountain and War Memorial, and Horsefair Street and all listed buildings in Bishop Street form a group. Listing NGR: SK5881604377 This List entry has been amended to add sources for War Memorials Online and the War Memorials Register. These sources were not used in the compilation of this List entry but are added here as a guide for further reading, 14 March 2017.
