Details SK48SE 4/119 WALES THE SQUARE (south side) War Memorial at junction of Church Street and Wales Road II War memorial. Mid 1920's. Marble. Square-sectioned pedestal with moulded plinth and cornice surmounted by well-carved statue of an infantryman in full battle dress. Inscription dedicates the memorial to the men of the parish lost in the Great War and adds: "THIS MONUMENT WAS ERECTED BY THE PARISHONERS". Later inscriptions record the dead of 1939-45 and of later conflicts. Listing NGR: SK4777482909 This List entry has been amended to add sources for War Memorials Online and the War Memorials Register. These sources were not used in the compilation of this List entry but are added here as a guide for further reading, 31 January 2017.
