Category B Date Added 20/01/2004 Local Authority Aberdeenshire Planning Authority Aberdeenshire Parish Fetteresso NGR NO 85540 87800 Coordinates 385540, 787800 — Probably 1855. 3-arch viaduct carrying road over Cowie Water. Squared and coursed rubble, bull-faced to piers, parapets and voussoirs. Ashlar band courses and moulded droved coping. Polygonal pilasters and 2-stage saw-tooth coped buttress. Broad segmental arches springing from piers with rounded outer faces extending into polygonal pilasters and refuges; curved approaches with polygonal outer piers. — The date of 1855 coincides with the building of the new Ury House, designed by John Baird of Glasgow, for Alexander Baird the new owner of Ury Estate. This is almost certainly the structure of which Groome says "On the principal approach there is a high-level bridge over the Cowie, which cost upwards of #2000", and would have been needed for transportation of building materials. The adjacent 1821 bridge is listed separately at category C(S).
