Details TL 06NW DEAN AND SHELTON SHELTON ROAD, OAKLEY HILL 1/58 Upper Dean Windmill II Windmill (disused). Built 1850 for William N. Bliss. Red brick. Tower mill type, cap missing, stands approximately 40 ft high. Cambered heads to openings. Originally had 3 floors, apparently now collapsed. Fragments of 2 of its 'patent' sails remain. Also some machinery. Last worked 1906. (Peter Dolman, "Upper and Lower Dean Windmills", Bedfordshire Magazine, Vol 13 pp 250-4).
