Details SK 32 NE PARISH OF WESTON-UPON-TRENT OFF SWARKESTONE ROAD (south side) 3/266 Sarson's Bridge - - II Canal bridge. 1770 by engineer James Brindley, with minor repairs. Coursed squared stone with stone dressings. Single segmental arch on straight jambs with plain hood and straight stone parapets over. Above the arch, to the centre, on either side is a raised stone, that to east inscribed '1770'. Chamfered stone copings to top of parapets. To either side of the arch the walls are angled outwards, finishing in plain square piers. Built as part of the Trent and Mersey Canal.
